Hobo Network - Nafierye's Top Game of 2015

I've had the pleasure of meeting multiple upcoming streamers and personalities during my tenure as a full-time Twitch streamer. I created The Hobo Network to bring like-minded and passionate gamers together to enjoy the fun and hobby of streaming video games to a worldwide audience. For Game Of The Year 2015, I sent out open invitations for Hobo Network members to write an article detailing their favorite game of 2015. Keep in mind, this is the streamer's favorite game they played during the year, not necessarily a game that was released in 2015.

Each article is presented without editing and in their entirety.

-------------------

Let me start by being frank – I am not as learned as my fellow members of the Hobo Nation on all the games and titles released last year, seeing as I’m rather picky about the games I play. But the game I chose for this last year was one that I would have never chosen before, not even would I have bothered playing it, either – it’s just so fun though!

The game I’m talking about is the recent MOBA release, Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of the Storm or HOTS is very easy to dive in to; it is free to play and relies heavily on teamwork to progress and win matches. Solo or in a team with friends, you can progress through the player and character levels, unlock traits and talents, and even purchase characters with in-game gold. In this regard, it’s much different than the other major titles in MOBAs, such as League of Legends and DOTA2, which require the player to level at a different rate than his teammates and also require a player to purchase items during the game to advance your characters damage or defense. As you level in HOTS, you may “power up” your skills by selecting talents, becoming a formidable foe as you take down opponents.

So what’s it all add up to?

I absolutely love this game because of the forced teamwork. If you are proficient in LoL or DOTA2 and you come to this game, you’re going to have a rough time – you cannot rely on soloing alone and carrying your team! It creates a different character and keeps the saltiness between players to a minimum. Not to mention, the matches are only 20-30 minutes in length and are incredibly fun and addictive! If you haven’t given this game a go, you need to get off your butt and do it!

HONORABLE MENTION

Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC Tresspasser

This was the single most immersive DLC I have ever seen in my life. I am usually a stickler about these things; if you’re going to create a “best game” then choose the actual game, and not the DLC – but I don’t have a choice here. If anything could be said of Tresspasser, it is that absolutely captures the player’s attention, dives them into the story completely, and doesn’t let you go. The feelings, the power of the Mark of the Rift, everything – it’s intense. Coupled with the beautiful artwork and character modeling, I absolutely cannot speak highly enough about this franchise.
