Hobo Network - VampiricWarrior's Top Game Of 2015

I've had the pleasure of meeting multiple upcoming streamers and personalities during my tenure as a full-time Twitch streamer. I created The Hobo Network to bring like-minded and passionate gamers together to enjoy the fun and hobby of streaming video games to a worldwide audience. For Game Of The Year 2015, I sent out open invitations for Hobo Network members to write an article detailing their favorite game of 2015. Keep in mind, this is the streamer's favorite game they played during the year, not necessarily a game that was released in 2015.

Each article is presented without editing and in their entirety.

Hey all! It's VampiricWarrior and I'm here to bring you my GOTY pick(s). As most of you know, I am a huge Diablo fan and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion nut and have put literally over thousands of hours into Diablo 2/Diablo II: Lord of Destruction alone. Hell it's probably well over a million by now. So when it comes to my all time favorite game of the year pick(s), It's really Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction.

The game itself overall is fantastic with five acts of feeling like a hero and tons of waypoints of locations. Not only does it feel like you just crossed the world but you also get to see the many different 'little things' like how detailed everything is to how devastating a horde of Horadrim and skeletons can be in Act 2 from higher difficulties. The game isn't just beautiful, the music that comes with it is just as amazing. Throughout the game, there are many, many different tracks that just make you want to forget about the real world and you just get sucked into the game for hours. Never have I been so drawn into a game just because of the whole soundtrack or how incredibly fast I can breeze through a game whether it's rushing someone or a friend. With the game being randomized, it isn't common to eventually remember how each map works or which exit to the next area is to knowing who has the best drop for whichever item you are wanting.

The whole premise of the game is to defeat the Lord of Terror, Diablo and the Lord of Hatred, Mephisto and in the expansion, the Lord of Destruction, Baal who want to take over Sanctuary by flooding it with demons. Story wise, it is what it is, a Hero taking on Hell with some help from Heaven but it still makes you feel like you just made a difference and all that effort is rewarded with the hundreds of items you can find or craft. With the introduction of runes in the expansion, Lord of Destruction, the item list just gets bigger and the possibilties of item combinations can make your brain go haywire from a new player stand point. But if you are willing to put time and effort into a character via putting the right skill points for whatever build, finding the required items you are wanting, then you will have one amazing character.

Ubers is a term for Uber Tristram. It's where you get to challenge all 3 prime evils, Baal,Diablo and Mephisto for a chance to get a Hellfire Torch. Now this particular fight isn't for your average joe or run of the mill character. It's extremely hard for those unskilled or unsure on what stats or items you will need. But the payoff is really rewarding. The Hellfire Torch is by far, one of the best Charms in the game. It was introduced in patch 1.10, along with runes and the annihilus unique small charm, which is a global event on Battle.net. With the varying stats of +10-+20 for all attributes and all resists but it also gives you +3 to character skills and some nice charges of firestorm. The Annihilus charm does the same except it gives +1 all skills and some nice % to exp gained. So if you feeling brave and want a good challenge of your skills, Uber Tristram is where you want to be tested. Good Luck, you will definitely need it.

So this is my first GOTY picks, sorry if I rambled a tad bit but when it boils down to my all time favorite game for any year, Diablo 2 and it's expansion are definitely number one. Hope you all enjoyed and can't wait to hear your responses!

    1. I'm telling Vamp he should jump aboard the Diablo 2 speed-run train. We'll see him at an AGDQ one of these years, I'm sure of it.
