At Sony's Playstation Experience on December 5th, 2015, we saw the first gameplay footage of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake for PS4. It seems the game is borrowing the active/turn-based hybrid of Crisis Core, which puts a big smile on my face.
While it may be a controversial opinion, a straight 1:1 remake of the PSX original wouldn't be worth the time and money investment, and I think going with a few sweeping changes may be the way to freshen things up. The visuals look great, and it seems they've kept a lot of the bombastic dialogue (Wedge's "You're doing it for the planet!" comes to mind) to keep the mood of the original alive. Expect the release to be late 2016, or 2017.
